How to Become a Mason?
To Become a Mason, Ask a Mason!
Freemasonry is the oldest fraternity in the world and in Maryland has certain requirements- you must be a man, at least 18 years old, resident of Maryland for at least 1 year, of good moral character and most importantly believe in a Supreme Being.
The process involves submitting a petition along with your initiation fee. Once your petition is received it is read in Lodge, it is sent to the Grand Lodge for background and other checks. During that time you will receive a visit from our investigation committee consisting of 3 of our members who will ask you questions and report their findings back to the Lodge. If you are married or engaged we ask that both of you be present so that your spouse/fiancee will be able to ask questions. This all takes place over a 4-week period. After the 4-week period, your petition is balloted upon by the Lodge and if found worthy you will be given a date whereon you will be initiated into the Lodge.
